I love to follow strong businesswomen, like
Barbara Corcoran on LinkedIn. With her amazing credentials starting in the real estate world, it’s hard to believe this female business mogul received straight Ds in high school and college and had 20 jobs by the time she turned 23. It’s stories like that, and people like Barbara, that inspire and motivate me to new heights in my personal and professional life.
It was her 24th job that made her one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country when she took out a $1,000 loan and started The Corcoran Group, a New York residential real estate brokerage. In 2011, she sold the 1,400-person brokerage for $66 million.
While today’s modern entrepreneurs tend to focus their energies on one segment of business, hoping for megatrends, Corcoran says her key to success stemmed from trying as many ideas as possible, and failing enough times to achieve success. No PowerPoint or detailed Excel for Barbara. As she says, “I’m not a believer in the MBA type stuff. Most of the times I ever lost a lot of money with somebody, they graduated from Harvard.”
Barbara Corcoran is just one of the phenomenal women I follow in the business and real estate world. Do you have someone you follow that motivates you? I would love to hear about her (or him). Please call me at 415.516.3939 or contact me via email at
