Luxury Interior Design Trends for 2015

Each New Year brings with it new luxury interior design trends. For 2015, we’re seeing a combination of classic, retro and contemporary styles, featuring traditional and new materials, with fresh decorating colors, exotic motifs, ethnic decoration patterns, artistic details and a surprising blend of textures.

Before you begin to redesign the rooms in your home, check out this story in the Wall Street Journal. In the article, 20 leading design professionals from around the world were asked for their highly opinionated takes on what’s trending, and what’s ending in 2015, making it easy to keep up with the latest style developments.

Here’s the lowdown:

1)     Mixed Metals
Mixing warm metals, such as copper and rose gold, with cool ones like silver is particularly hot right now.

2)     Moody Indigo
Several designers said this color’s versatility plays well with other colors, making it a good choice.

3)     Painterly Rugs
Think Motherwell or Monet. Basically, your rug should create a fluid look, like those rendered in silk that shimmer and constantly change color.

4)     Smoky Glass
Clear is so last year, instead strike some tension between raw and refined, masculine and feminine with smoky glass.

5)     Graphic Tiles
Thanks to the allure of indoor/outdoor living (especially current here in Napa Valley), colorful concrete tiles continue to move from commercial to home spaces.

What’s out for 2015 as far as luxury interior design? Here’s what the WSJ found:

1) Chevron Prints
2) Text as Décor
3) Mirrored furniture
4) The Ombré Look
5) Beni Ourain Rugs

The bottom line is luxury interior design trends for 2015 are a fascinating blend of traditional materials, shapes, prints and decorating ideas with new products and rich room colors, which, like artistic brushstrokes, brighten the world of interior design and home decorating while reflecting modern ideas.
