I absolutely adore Napa’s Calistoga Ranch
, and apparently, I am not alone in my feelings. In fact, Auberge Resorts and a group of partners including vintner Bill Foley of the Foley Food & Wine Society
made history recently by purchasing the 50-room boutique resort and setting the sales record for the highest price paid per room in the nation.
Although the final purchase price was not disclosed, it is reported that the group paid more than $1 million per room. That amount is not surprising when you consider that guests pay some of the highest overnight rates in California to stay at the premier property.
“The Calistoga Ranch experience coupled with the cachet of Napa and its excellent underlying market supply and demand fundamentals have enabled Olympus to maximize the sale price,” explained a press release regarding the sale.
Featuring 50 rooms that are actually separate, freestanding contemporary guest lodges, Napa’s Calistoga Ranch, a 5-star resort, is set in a secluded 157-acre canyon in the Upvalley.

Guests appreciate the oak and eucalyptus tress that surround the property along with the pristine forest views and private outdoor garden showers. There’s also an exclusive Bathhous spa, the beautifully romantic private Lakehouse Restaurant, a cabernet vineyard, wine cave, hiking trials, a yoga and meditation deck and much more.
A number of other Napa properties have sold recently, including the Archer Napa Hotel,
expected to be the catalyst for the revitalization of downtown Napa, raising property value with all the lux amenities planned.
